Tama is excited to speak at and participate in the Toronto hospitality symposium on April 23 and participate in the ensuing workshops on the 24 and 25th
Message from the Chair, Arlene Stein, Program Director of Brickworks:
I love to bring people together to share ideas, knowledge and creativity; that’s why creating the program for Terroir is such a pleasure.
Terroir’s executive committee, advisory committee, and contributors are made up of a stellar group of passionate food people.
Their ideas have informed this year’s program that has been curated to explore the innovative ideas and creativity that infuse our industry.
Our industry innovators are highly skilled, talented and passionate people who have embraced tradition and while considering environmental impacts. As entrepreneurs, they want to invest in an industry that is socially, environmentally and economically sustainable.
Some of the elements in today’s culinary scene are not unique, but there’s a culmination of ideas that make for a more modern platform. Social responsibility, creativity and individuality.
We learn a new way of thinking from these creators and entrepreneurs that is outside the traditional approach to hospitality. Stretching boundaries and considering new ways of delivering outstanding cuisine to a sophisticated consumer in ever surprising ways. Chefs and restaurateurs today are no longer satisfied by being confined to their kitchens and commandeering a brigade. They want to hunt, gather and forage. And they want to develop non-traditional programs beyond ‘a la carte’ service. They want to operate food trucks and pop up restaurants. And consumers love it — because they have a relationship with the people creating their food. And perhaps relationships are the most important element in this new realm.
Terroir, our industry’s annual symposium, is intended to be a forum in which all members of the hospitality community can gather and explore ideas, debate concepts and, most of all, take away concepts to help develop their own professional careers. We want to engage everyone in a way that contributes to and enhances this forum.
We welcome you and invite you to participate on a journey where we explore the people, the products and the principles of a new regime in food.
With your help, the conversation and the evolution continues.
